Speaker rejects identifying joint opposition as independent group

Feb 09, 2016 (LBO) – Sri Lanka’s Parliament turned chaotic after the Speaker refused a request to identify the joint opposition as an independent group in Parliament.

The Speaker told Parliament that he is not ready to identify joint opposition as an independent group though they can be provided more time to speak in the future.

The Joint Opposition is currently staging a protest inside the house with accompanied shouting and hooting.

Despite the disturbances the local authorities elections (amendment) bill giving more representation for women was presented to the Parliament by the Leader of the house.

The bill seeks to increase women representation in local government by 25 percent.

The so called “Joint Opposition” is a group of troublemakers who have nothing to do but create chaos and disturbance in the Sri Lankan society. Having a PM who is straight forward and forward thinking and a President who is so determined to find peace for everyone is a god sent combination. Let us strengthen their resolve and make sure the once so called paradise regain her rightful place on this planet.
