I practiced strict financial discipline & management, says President

Apr 01, 2016 – Sri Lanka’s President Maithripala Sirisena says he has fulfilled his duties and responsibilities in an appropriate manner during the last year when it comes to financial discipline and management of the country.

It is the responsibility of the politicians and public officials to pay more attention to financial discipline and management, he said participating in a ceremony to declare open the newly built building complex for the Ministry of Finance on Thursday.

“At present, I have taken steps to cut down the expenditures of the Presidential Secretariat by 60 percent,” the President said,

“I have  never used charter flights for  foreign tours and traveled by economy class with a small number of delegates.”

SriLankan Airlines incurred a huge loss due to the actions of the leaders of the previous regime, the President said.

The President pointed out the importance of maintaining strict financial discipline and management in implementing development projects and the importance of fulfilling responsibilities from the very beginning of the year to achieve annual goals.

He also said that he had ended an era where the public funds were wasted.

Decipline @ the top is not only for using savings to run the country with savings generated but since ” Gura hitagena karana dewal Golayo duwaduwa karana Nissa” What the teacher do standingstill students will do running”.Take few simple experiences. Can most get a building plan approved @ may LG offices without offering something. Why do container loads of toxics come in to the country? Why do people crave for authority & benefits coming with these but shun the responsibility that come with the things don with this authority?(responsibility passed on to public or to a dumb subordinate).

Yeah decisions not taken today but the pathetic elections promises given by one uninspiring lucky common candidate. We predicted then and there that the economy will collapse if those irresponsible election promises were to be implemented. I guess people are free to get duped by the continuing mega lies.

Its pathetic to see some people’s comment. Whatsoever the case we should be able to appreciate what is good irrespective of what side we are standing.

The current situation of the economy is not due to the decisions taken today and the results of what we are doing today will come in future. That’s the nature of macroeconomics.
If someone wants instant noodles they can keep blaming.

And the results are evident Mr president. Stock market down. Economic growth down. Foreign investments are down. Exports down. Only things that are doing good are debt and new taxes. I thank that hopper you ate every day for the financial discipline we have today.

Remarkable positive shifits in few top slots is a fact.Percolation of these positive trends left right & center in the vast authority & responsibility structures that excersise authority but shun responsibility(leave responsibility to people or to subordinates )is the key for generating positive significant ripples through out the country. This means re enacting muted desire for responsibility(for meaning full results, value for money) back in to authority structures.(enforcement, education, monitoring appropriate reward & pennalty ect ect).
