An agreement for technical assistance for the SME sector was officially closed between the government and the ADB on March 27rn
rnThe aid is being funded as a grant by the Japan Special Fund and is a component of the ADB-financed lquote Small and Medium Enterprise Sector Development Program quote loan of US$86 million.rn
rnThe assistance includes supporting the establishment of a SME policy unit, identifying impediments to foreign and domestic investment, improving the consultative process between the government and private sector, improving SME access to non-bank finance by preparing a framework for secured transactions, and promoting the use of Information Technology by SMEs.rn
rnExecuting agencies for the assistance program will be the Ministry of Enterprise Development, Industrial Policy and Investment Promotion.rnrn
