May 8, 2013 (LBO) – Chairman of Sri Lanka Ports Authority, Priyath Wickrama has been elected third vice president of Tokyo based International Association of Ports and Harbors (IAPH), an industry body. The 12th IAPH Asian/Oceania Regional Meeting/Port Forum had been hosted in Colombo for the first time in March 2012.
Wickrama was born in Matara, a southern coastal district in Sri Lanka and was educated at Embilipitiya Central College and entered the University of Moratuwa to study enginnering.
He had joined SLPA as a mechanical engineer in 2001 and was promoted as executive director in 2004.
SLPA said he has a doctoral degree in Operations Management from the International University of America in the United Kingdom.
SLPA said he is the youngest person to take over the post representing the Asia/Oceania region.
