Singapore’s Tiger Airways in $1 promotion

Mar 07, 2012 (LBO) - Singapore-based budget carrier Tiger Airways said it is holding a sale on flights to Jakarta, Kuching, Kuala Lumpur, Penang and Ho Chi Minh City until March 13, with slashed prices to 25 other destinations including Colombo.



Budget carriers use promotional fares sold ahead online as part of their sales strategy drawing out travellers who would not otherwise have travelled abroad. They sell a basic one-way point-to-point fare to which food, luggage and seat allocations can be added.

One dollar tickets (without taxes and extras) on periods ranging from April, and July 2012 to November 2013.

The ASEAN region, where travel is visa free has seen a boom in tourism and the birth of several budget carriers in Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand, Korea and the Phillippines.
