Sri Lanka blacklists 67 foreign recruitment agencies in 2017

July 03, 2017 (LBO) – The Sri Lanka Bureau of Foreign Employment has blacklisted licenses of 67 foreign recruitment agencies in the first half of this year. Lack of cooperation for dispute settlement, illegal recruitment, and preparing fake documents were among reasons to blacklist recruitment agencies. The bureau said in a statement that in 2016 they blacklisted 61 foreign recruitment agencies in the country.

After blacklisting them, the Foreign Employment Bureau takes action related to the issues including legal action. At present, there are 702 licensed foreign employment agencies in Sri Lanka with Colombo district alone having 355 agencies.

In Kurunegala district, there are 130 agencies, while Kandy has 44 agencies and Anuradhapura has 25 agencies.
