Sri Lanka calls international partners to jointly operate Hambantota RO-RO hub

July 10, 2015 (LBO) – Sri Lanka calls for international partner to jointly operate a Roll-on-Roll-off (RO-RO) berth of Hambantota port considering the potentiality of developing it as a reshipping center.
Cabinet Spokeman said, ships can easily reach East African countries and Western Australia directly from the Hambantota port which is situated between Singapore and Dubai that are two key vehicle reshipping centers close to Sri Lanka.
The cabinet of ministers had approved a proposal made by the Ports Minister Arjuna Ranatunga to call for expression of interest and issue request for proposals from interested parties to maintain operations of the multipurpose berth of the phase 1 of the port.

Sri Lanka’s Hambantota port have been transshipped 48,811 cars in the first four months to April 2014 up from 3,519 in 2013

And the results are evident Mr president. Stock market down. Economic growth down. Foreign investments are down. Exports down. Only things that are doing good are debt and new taxes. I thank that hopper you ate every day for the financial discipline we have today.

oh properly duped you are. Transshipment is a decision of shipping lines. You are talking about vehicles coming into the country and transshipment of vehicles is a complete different story.

Sorry to say, But the Only reason cars are unloaded there is it was a government order, because no ship would use a port, uncertified by Lloyds shipping agents!!!!
