Sri Lanka Embassy organizes Food Festival in Israel

The Embassy of Sri Lanka in the State of Israel organized a Sri Lankan food festival featuring 32 traditional dishes showcasing the culinary diversity of Sri Lanka. The event was held at the residence of the Ambassador of Sri Lanka, in Tel Aviv.

Invitees included members of travel and tour agencies, journalists, culinary writers, YouTubers, bloggers, social media influencers, officials of the Foreign Ministry, the immigration authority, and the airport authority.

Delivering the key note address, Sri Lanka’s Ambassador to Israel Nimal Bandara highlighted the authenticity of the Sri Lankan food culture that dates back to the ancient Kandyan Kingdom and explained how these dishes were even served to the kings. In response to requests made by the invitees, the ambassador agreed to organize Sri Lanka culinary lessons in the near future.

He indicated that with many Israelis planning to visit Sri Lanka, various activities promoting Sri Lanka will be organized to showcase Sri Lanka’s serene landscapes, rich heritage, culture and recreational activities.

Anat Bernstein-Reich stated that the members of the chambers and many business entities are pleased to create a link with Sri Lanka in both imports and exports, tourism and people to people contacts.

She also said that during her upcoming visit to Sri Lanka she looks forward to meeting with the Sri Lankan Chambers, Sri Lanka Export Development Board and Sri Lanka Tourism Promotion Bureau.
