Sri Lanka hosts trade facilitation forum

Mar 30, 2012 (LBO) – Sri Lanka Export Credit Insurance Corporation and the Commonwealth Secretariat is hosting a trade facilitation and export seminar in Colombo, its organizers said. The Commonwealth Secretariat is an intergovernmental agency which facilitates co-operation among Commonwealth nations and advises on policy.

A study conducted in 2009 by the Commonwealth Secretariat on Sri Lanka’s trade facilitation systems and process had come up with13 recommendations to bring current facilities to international standards.

The seminar will be held from April 02 to 04.

“The three day programme will be part of a select and limited focus group of delegates who can contribute and move forward with the important objective of trade facilitation with the main objectives being,” its organizers said.

The symposium will identify impediments to trade facilitation and come up with proposals for institutional arrangement to overcome them and enhance trade.
