Sri Lanka inflation decreased in June

July 23, 2019 (LBO) – Sri Lanka’s headline inflation as measured by the year-on-year change in the National Consumer Price Index has been decreased to 2.1 percent in June from 3.5 percent in May due to the high base prevailed in the corresponding month of the previous year.

Meanwhile, in June, both year-on-year food and non-food inflation decreased to -2.9 percent and 6.2 percent from -0.4 percent and 6.7 percent respectively.

The Central Bank said the change in the NCPI measured on an annual average basis remained unchanged at 2.0 percent in June 2019.

The core inflation, which reflects the underlying inflation in the economy, decreased to 6.1 percent in June from 6.3 percent in May on a year-on-year basis.

Annual average Core inflation increased to 4.4 percent in June from 4.0 percent in May.
