Sri Lanka stocks close down 0.3-pct:Turnover high

Dec 10, 2015 (LBO) – Sri Lankan stocks closed down at 0.26 percent for a fifth consecutive day, Thursday with losses in index heavy stocks, brokers said. The Colombo benchmark All Share Price Index closed down 17.64 points at 6,823.91 down 0.26 percent. S&P SL20 closed 3.44 points down at 3,612.01 down 0.10 percent. Turnover was at 8 billion rupees, higher than the daily average of 1.1 billion rupees with 43 stocks closing positive against 72 negative. The main index showed losses in Nestle Lanka closing at 2,080.00 rupees, down 73.90 rupees and John Keells Holdings closing at 178.20, down 0.80 rupees. Asiri Hospitals closed at 24.80 rupees, down 0.30 rupees with the stock contributing 7.61 billion rupees to turnover (94.2 percent of total turnover) aided by a negotiated deal. Foreign participants mirrored the market direction recording net foreign outflows of 112 million rupees and foreign volume contributed to 97 percent or 323 million rupees of total volume 333 million rupees for the day.
