Sri Lanka stocks close lower 0.04-pct: Five month low

Dec 21, 2015 (LBO) – Sri Lankan stocks closed lower at 0.04 percent after five consecutive days of gains with low investor activity ahead of Christmas and New Year holiday’s, brokers said. The Colombo benchmark All Share Price Index closed lower at 2.94 points at 6,881.75 down 0.04 percent. S&P SL20 closed 4.39 points up at 3,628.30 down at 0.12 percent. Turnover was at 360 million rupees, lower than the daily average of 1.1 billion rupees with 37 stocks closing positive against 71 negative. The main index showed losses in Bukit Darah closing at 501.50 rupees, down 8.50 rupees and Lanka Orix Leasing closing at 92.00 rupees, down 1.80 rupees. Dialog Axita closed flat at 11.60 rupees and with one off the floor trade of 11 million shares at 10.50 rupees. Foreign investors aligned on to the selling side for the third consecutive day recording a net foreign outflow of 70 million rupees.
