Sri Lanka stocks close up 0.3-pct

Dec 31, 2015 (LBO) – Sri Lankan stocks closed up at 0.35 percent with gains in some banking sector stocks, brokers said.

The Colombo benchmark All Share Price Index closed higher at 23.87 points at 6,894.50 up 0.35 percent. S&P SL20 closed 29.00 points up at  3,634.07 up 0.80 percent.

Turnover was at 326 million rupees, lower than the daily average of 1.1 billion rupees with 102 stocks closing positive against 48 negative.

The main index showed gains in Aitken Spence closing at 96.70 rupees, up 4.70 rupees.

Active trading was seen in the banking sector, DFCC Bank closed at 162.10 rupees, up 5.30 rupees and Commercial Bank closed at 140.20 rupees, up 0.20 rupees. Hatton National Bank closed at 210.60 rupees, up 0.90 rupees. Year to date the ASPI was down 404.45 point at 5.54 percent.
