The benchmark Colombo All Share Price Index (ASPI) closed up 1.
03 percent (24.47 points) to end at 2,395.02 Friday, while the Milanka index of liquid stocks gained 1.44 percent (37.84 points) to close at 2,671.27, according to provisional stock exchange data.
Turnover was 468.5 million rupees.
During the week the ASPI was up 1.
35 percent, while the Milanka index gained 1.16 percent.
On Friday there was net foreign selling worth 101.
3 million rupees, with foreign investors buying 100 million worth shares and selling shares valued at 201.6 million rupees, brokers said.
"The market was active today as retail investors were seen chasing behind hotels, plantations, and medium and small capped companies," said Geeth Balasuriya, research manager at Acuity Stockbrokers.
"There was strong interest on blue chips such as John Keells Holdings (JKH)."
Brokers said 1.38 million JKH shares changed hands today.
Index heavy conglomerate JKH closed flat 130.00 rupees, while Distilleries Company of Sri Lanka, closed at 86.
