Feb 28. 2013 (LBO) – Kandy Hotels Co (1938) Plc, which controls two hotels in Sri Lanka’s central hill city of Kandy said it will start a 1.5 billion rupee refurbishment of the properties with the help of a Singapore based architectural firm. Also involved will be Richard Helfer of RCH International who was a former chief executive of Singapore’s Raffles International, the firm said in a stock exchange filing.

The firm said it had already started a 120 room project behind Hotel Suisse with Sino Lanka Hotel Holding (Pvt) Ltd, which will be completed by 2014.
In a project that started in 2010, Queen’s Hotels rooms had been increased to 77 from 54 with air conditioning, the firm said.
