Sri Lanka’s Presidential Election Postal Votes – Update 01

Jan 09, 2015 -Sri Lanka’s postal results of the Presidential Election 2015 was announced by the Department of Elections with the release of postal vote results of the Ratnapura District. President Mahinda Rajapaksa has received the highest with 11,864 postal votes (56.6%) while Common Prsidential candidate Maithripala Sirisena received 9,053 postal votes (43.2%) in the Ratnapura district.

President Rajapaksa is contesting for a third term seeking back another term in office. He is challenged by former Health Minister Maithripala Sirisena, who defected to the opposition.

Maithripala Sirisena has received 6,816 postal votes (80.55%) in the Batticaloa and Mahinda Rajapaksa comes second polling 1,605 postal votes (18.97) in the district.

Jaffna leaded by Sirisena with 10,885 postal votes (69.17%) while Rajapaksa received 4,607 (29.27%).

Badulla leaded by Rajapaksa with 13,115 (49.94%) postal votes and Sirisena received 13,031 (49.62%) postal votes from the district.

Rajapakse received 8,281 (52.26%) postal votes from Monergala and Sirisena received 7,513 (47.41%) postal votes from the district.
