Sep 24, 2019 (LBO) – SriLankan Engineering, the aircraft Maintenance Repair Organisation (MRO) of SriLankan Airlines, welcomed a new airline customer – Air Seychelles – for which it carried out an ‘A-check’ on an Airbus A320 aircraft in its specialized A320/A321 hangar at the National Carrier’s main hub at Bandaranaike International Airport.

SriLankan Engineering possesses EASA certifications for Line Maintenance, Base Maintenance and Engineering Workshops, and authorization to certify aircraft operating to BIA and Male International Airport in the Maldives.

“SriLankan has made a significant investment in upgrading our MRO facilities at BIA,” Vipula Gunatilleka, Chief Executive Officer of SriLankan Airlines said.

“Coupled with the expertise and experience of our SriLankan Engineering staff and the global certifications from EASA, we are confident that our MRO arm will make a significant contribution in terms of revenue for the airline.”

SriLankan Engineering’s dedicated A320/A321 hangar and its Main Hangar were recently modernized to carry out a wide range of maintenance programmes with floor capacity to work on multiple aircraft at any given time. Its engineering workshops were also upgraded.

“We are delighted to welcome Air Seychelles as a valued customer and look forward to a long and fruitful relationship,” D.A.G. Jayasuriya, Chief Technical Officer of SriLankan Airlines said.

“We are confident that SriLankan Engineering will secure third party maintenance contracts with more airlines in the near future.”

It also provides full engineering services for the entire SriLankan Airlines fleet, which is comprised of A320, A321 (CEO and NEO versions) and A330 aircraft.

In addition, SriLankan Engineering provides Line certification of B777, B737NG, B 787, A350 at Colombo and Male Airports to many Airline customers.
