August 07, 2007 (LBO) – Sri Lanka's top celco Dialog Telekom, a unit of Telecom Malaysia, said Tuesday it had launched a third generation (3G) international video calling service. "The convergence of the internet with mobile communication technologies has created limitless possibilities, and the 3G growth potential in Sri Lanka is immense," Dialog's head of marketing, Nushad Perera said in a statement.

"We will, therefore, aggressively pursue our 3G network expansion in order to deliver the optimum in seamless communication.

The video calls are priced at 35 rupees a minute.

Dialog said its roaming customers could use 3G in USA, Australia, Canada, Malaysia, Singapore, Australia and the UK.

Dialog said its 3G services provides high speed data downloads and multi-media streaming allowing subscribers to access TV, high speed internet, video streaming, music and video downloads and games.

The firm has built a portal at www.dialog3g.com.

Dialog says it has completed 3G network rollout in Colombo and has moved into Kandy and Kurunegala.
