SriLankan earlier served Kochi from 2003, but had suspended the service in 2009 during a slump in air travel. Before the cutbacks the airlines flew about 100 times a week to India.
Sri Lankan also flies to Chennai, Mumbai, Trichy, New Delhi, Bangalore, and Trivandrum.
SriLankan also launched a new service to Guangzhou in January, its fourth destination in China adding to its network of 51 cities in 32 countries. The airlines is expecting to acquire seven aircraft in 2011.
In 2010 tourist arrivals rose 46 percent from a year earlier.
