At The Bourse

The Colombo bourse reacted positively to deals in the insurance market and increasing tourist arrivals over the last week.





Shares in Commercial Bank and DFCC climbed on news that the two were planning a joint bid for a majority stake in Eagle Insurance.

The All Share closed at 820.4 points up two point six points from last weeks close.



The highly liquid Milanka Index, in which last weeks top gainers are included closed up nineteen points at 1420 points.

Analysts said leisure sector stock prices have jumped by 28 percent over the last year and they expect the momentum to continue.



The Tourist Board recorded arrivals increases of over 25 percent in the first quarter.

The upward trend is expected to continue with a new arrivals record expected by the end of the year.
