The London-based top Tamil Tiger negotiator returned to Sri Lanka Friday ahead of resuming Norwegian-backed peace talks with the new Colombo government, officials said.rn
Anton Balasingham, 65, arrived at the only international airport here and was immediately flown in a military helicopter to the rebel-held town of Kilinochchi, 330 kilometres (206 miles) north of here, officials said.rn

rn The Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE) said Balasingham was back for consultations with Tiger supremo Velupillai Prabhakaran who is due to meet with Norways Foreign Minister Jan Petersen early next week.rn

rn “Mr. Balasingham and Mr. Prabhakaran will meet Mr. Petersen on Monday to discuss the peace process and related matters,” the pro-rebel Tamilnet website quoted its sources as saying on Tuesday.rn
