Sept 03, 2008 (LBO) - The Sri Lanka Ports Authority plans to take over the bunker fuel storage tank facility that belonged to John Keells Holdings (JKH) subsidiary Lanka Marine Services by September 10.

The SLPA's outgoing chairman Saliya Wickramasuriya said John Keells Holdings has already been told they can't lease the storage tanks.

"This is because the Supreme Court judgement clearly indicated the facility is not to be used by any single entity and must be shared by all suppliers," he said.

JKH had previously said it had applied to the SLPA to lease the tank farm and had won more time till September 10 to vacate the premises.

The move came after the Supreme Court ruled that JKH had acquired illegal benefits when in bought LMS in a privatisation exercise that was challenged in court.
