Emirates includes Sri Lankan firms in frequent flyer program

Dec 16, 2008 (LBO) – A frequent flyer program targeted at small and medium enterprises by Emirates, launched in the UAE in May 2008, has now been made available to Sri Lankan firms, the airline said. The 'Business Rewards' scheme allows a firm to earn flying miles whenever a registered employee books through the scheme. The company could redeem the flying miles against future flights.

The individual traveler would also earn his own frequent flyer miles.

"Small and medium-sized businesses represent a significant segment of the market in Sri Lanka," Chandana de Silva, Emirates area manager Sri Lanka & Maldives said in a statement.

"The challenging economic environment makes any saving on recurrent expenditure like overseas travel relevant for businesses.

"We are confident that our Business Rewards scheme will be welcomed by all of our corporate customers in Sri Lanka."

The company must register with the scheme in the country where it is located, but it can accumulate miles for travel by employees at all branches into one central account. The airlines says firms could register at www.emirates.com and there is no fee.
