July 29, 2007 (LBO) – Popular actress Sangeetha Weeraratne and hairstylist and choreographer Lou Ching Wong are teaming up to give a leg up to wannabe's waiting to step onto the catwalk. Wong says the school hopes to affiliate with Singaporean grooming schools next year to provide internationally recognized certification that will help students pursue higher studies in fashion schools around the world. Named 'The Model Shop' the school will be open in the last quarter of this year, for individuals who want to develop personality, gain self-confidence and build their image, the duo told reporters.

It will also provide the opportunity to learn self grooming, hair care, body care and modeling techniques.

Sri Lanka with around 35 to 40 top professional models and scores of aspiring models have the potential to reach the level of India in modeling, those in the industry say.

"We hope to introduce new faces to the (modeling) industry to fill the dearth of young, professional talent," Sangeetha Weeraratne said.
