SriLankan Airlines will piggyback on codeshare agreements with Emirates to expand its network to Sydney and Cyprus, even as soaring fuel prices puts the breaks on growth.

It will increase flights to daily services to Sydney and ten a week to Cyprus, the Airline said in a statement on Wednesday.

The Airline has recently expanded into Europe, Asia and Australia through codeshare agreements, adding destinations that would otherwise be too costly to serve.

“SriLankan is constantly searching for ways by which to increase services and the scope of our network.

Apart from launching our own flights to new destinations and increasing frequencies to existing destinations, we have been increasing our use of codeshares through our partner Emirates,” Barry Brown, Head of Commercial at SriLankan said.
