Flying Gold

July 27, 2007 (LBO) – A SriLankan Airlines advertising campaign developed by Grant McCann Erickson hit the lime light winning the first gold at the Pacific Asia Travel Association (PATA) Gold Awards. The campaign which focused on the theme ˜home away form home™ bagged the award for the best marketing campaign for an airline.

The whole concept behind the campaign was that Sri Lankans, wherever they are, yearn for simple things that remind them of home,” Priya Epitawela, Manager Advertising for SriLankan Airlines said in a statement.

“We wanted to show that SriLankan Airlines is a carrier that understands Sri Lanka the best.

‘Home away from home’ which promoted local hospitality and warmth, became popular in Sri Lanka giving the air line an edge in its brand value.

This concept was carefully researched amongst a segment of the target audience, and lot of planning went into the execution of the campaign, the Grant McCann Erickson’s Laila Gunesekere Martenstyn said.
