Jan 14, 2020 (LBO) – Sri Lanka will commence the breakwater development of the Port of Galle and to dock all passenger vessels to Galle at the outer port area to further strengthen facilities for tourism promotional activities at the port.

State Minister of Ports Development Kanaka Herath during a special inspection visit at the Port of Galle stated that a new Yacht Marina Zone will also be established soon in the Port of Galle to promote tourism.

The facilities provided to Yachts at the Galle Port had been damaged during the tsunami but the basic facilities were restored in 2015.

The proposed development will provide a fully-fledged Yacht Marina Zone for the Galle Port with the objective of making the port a tourist port.

The Galle city is gifted with many attractions, such as coastal beds with pure blue oceans and coral reefs, tropical rain forests, legends attached, the colossal Dutch Fortress, a world heritage site and archeological artifacts.
