June 07, 2010 (LBO) - Sri Lankan banker Nilam Jayasinghe, a former chief of the Sri Lanka branch of CIMA, a UK accounting body, has been elected to its global council for a three year term.



Jayasinghe, who is vice president finance planning and treasury at Sri Lanka's NDB Bank will represent South Asia in the CIMA global council from June 2010, the bank said.

Under his watch as president of Sri Lanka's CIMA branch, Robert Kaplan, professor of Leadership Development of the Harvard Business School visited Asia for the first time to deliver a series of lectures on the 'balanced scorecard' a broader measure of accounting.

Jayasinghe is the vice chairman of the Industrial Association of Sri Lanka, a member of the Ceylon Chamber of Commerce and has served on the Accounting and Auditing Standards Monitoring Board and a commission on company law reforms.
