April 24, 2009 (LBO) – Sri Lanka’s central bank has asked customers of the failed Golden Key Credit Card Company to submit details of their deposits and company officials to declare assets. Sri Lanka’s Supreme Court last month ordered the Central Bank to probe the company after a group of depositors petitioned court saying it should have been regulated under central bank law.

The Central Bank has given time until May 15 for “every present and past” director, chief executive, manager, employee and agent of Golden Key and other “related and relevant” parties to declare assets.

The declaration format has been placed online (link – asset declaration) by a ‘special task force’ on the Golden Key Credit Card Company at the bank supervision unit of the regulator.

The regulator is also calling on customers to submit details on their deposits, through another form which is available online at its website (link – deposit details)

The bank is asking for details to be sent by registered post before
