Google Trends 2019: Easter bombings trigger Americans to search where is Sri Lanka

Dec 16, 2019 (LBO) – Sri Lanka topped the ‘Year in Search 2019’ list of the Google search in the ‘Where is’ category beating the Superbowl venue this year and Area 51.

According to Google Trends 2019 published recently, the interest over time for the keyword ‘Where is Sri Lanka’ spiked in the week of April 21 to 27 among Americans resulting in Sri Lanka to be included in their trending list.

As per the Google search data, New Hampshire, Connecticut, Vermont, South Dakota, and Colorado were the subregions that showed the most interest for Sri Lanka bombings.

Related queries included Sri Lanka bombings, where is Sri Lanka on the globe, bombing in Sri Lanka, bombing today and Sri Lanka news.

On 21 April 2019, Easter Sunday, three churches in Sri Lanka and three luxury hotels in the commercial capital Colombo were targeted in a series of coordinated terrorist suicide bombings.

259 people were killed, including at least 45 foreign nationals and three police officers, and at least 500 were injured.
