Govt. nod for cable cars in hills

Jul 04, 2019 (LBO) – Sri Lanka’s cabinet of ministers has approved a
cable car project in Nuwara Eliya, a statement said.

The project will run from Nanuoya, in the islands central hills to Gregary Lake through Single Tree Mountain, a statement on cabinet decisions said.

“Outdoor Engineering Lanka Pvt. Ltd. and its foreign Partner Dopelme Cable Car Company have submitted a proposal to start a cable car project from Nanuoya to Gregary Lake through Single Tree Mountain,” it said.

The project proposal was put forward by Minister of Plantation Industries to enter into a memorandum of understanding to implement it as a BOI project.

The aim of the project is to improve and boost local and international tourism.
