Hemas and Minor Group of Thailand to re-brand Sri Lanka hotel chain

Jan 23, 2007 (LBO) - Serendib Group of Hotels signs agreement with the Minor Group of Thailand to develop and manage properties owned by the Serendib Group with the re-branding of Hotel Serendib, Bentota. Hemas Holdings Ltd is one of Sri Lanka's top conglomerates with a focus on FMCG, Healthcare, Transportation, Leisure and Strategic Investments. The subsidiary of Hemas Holdings will upgrade and rebrand the existing properties of the group starting with Hotel Serendib, Bentota which will be re branded as ˜Anantara’ resort, Hemas said in a statement.

In the second phase, the Serendib Group plans to leverage its partnership with Minor to pursue new opportunities in the hotel sector, both within Sri Lanka and in the region the Group says.

Minor International is one of the largest hospitality and leisure companies in the Asia Pacific region with over 500 restaurants and 16 hotels.

The company has also expanded to include 16 resorts in Thailand, Vietnam and the Maldives including several award winning hotels and resorts.

Minor Group has been the leading premium destination spa operator the statement says.
