Nov 20, 2019 (LBO) – Sri Lanka’s Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe says that he has decided to resign from the post of Prime Minister, allowing the new President to form a new government.
Making a special statement, he said that he will announce this to the President tomorrow (21).
“I met President Gotabhaya Rajapaksa on the 19th. We discussed with him the future affairs of Parliament,” Wickremesinghe said.
“I value democracy and respect democracy. Although we have a majority in Parliament, we have decided to accept the mandate of Mr. Rajapaksa and establish a government of his own.”Hon-Prime-Ministers-Special-Statement-20th-November-2019
