June 19, 2008 (LBO) – Sri Lanka’s largest information technology exhibition to be held during a nationally declared ICT week in October will showcase the software hardware and the opportunities for IT enabled services, organizers said. The ninth Infotel Lanka Exhibition is part of the Information Communication Technology (ICT) week which will commence on 27 October. The Infotel exhibition will start on October 30.

“We need to build greater awareness on how to weave ICT into the economic and cultural platform of Sri Lanka,” Roshan Rasool, chairman Infotel Lanka Society, told reporters.

The 4-day exhibition will include a career section which aims to provide job seekers, students and other visitors with information on how to search for jobs in the field of ICT.

The International IT conference (IITC) 2008, organized by the University of Colombo School of Computing (UCSC), is another event of the national ICT week, the organizers said.

Local as well as foreign specialists will present technological papers at the conference.

Sri Lanka Computer Emergency Response Team (SLCERT) will also conduct a cyber security week during the exhibition.

Infotel will also provide a forum for promoting ICT products and service
