Logistics Link

May 31, 2010 (LBO) - Sri Lanka's Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport (CILT) is to function under the Ceylon Chamber of Commerce (CCC), the island's oldest business chamber, as it launched a corporate membership drive, a statement said. The CILT has entered into an agreement with the CCC which enables the institution to function under the aegis of the chamber, it said.

The Chartered Institute of Logistics & Transport in Sri Lanka has over 500 members qualified in the transport and logistics fields.

"CILT has recently launched a Corporate Membership program and will include many Corporate and Government sector organisations under this initiative," the statement said.

The institute is also trying to attract 'Young Members' as well increase the proportion of female members.

The island's logistics trade is expanding rapidly and experiencing a shortage of skilled professionals.

The CILT has also set up a secretariat at the Ceylon Chamber of Commerce.
