“Mr Jayasinghe, Secretary to the Ministry of Relief, Rehabilitation and Reconciliation and Mr Shanmugalingam Ranjan, Deputy Head of the Planning and Development Secretariat of the LTTE, signed the agreement,” said a statement from the Government Information Department, on Friday.
The representative from the government of Sri Lanka signed the P-TOMS earlier in the day in Colombo, after tabling the document in Parliament.
The document was then sent to Killinochchi for the LTTE signature.
The proposal, that faced massive opposition from nationalistic forces in southern Sri Lanka, can now go ahead to facilitate tsunami reconstruction in six of the most badly damaged parts of the island’s North and East.
