Dr. Ranee Jayamaha succeeded Mr. P.M.Nagahawatte, Deputy Governor who retired from the Central Bank on April 18, 2004. This is the first time a lady has been appointed to hold this position of the Bank.
Dr. Jayamaha has been in the Bank for 32 years with wide experience in the Economic Research Department, Banking Development Department and more recently as Assistant to the Governor in charge of several policy and operational departments.rn
rnDr. Jayamaha was instrumental in the successful implementation of payments reforms and several key projects under the Central Banks modernization programme. rn
rnShe is also the Secretary to the Audit Committee and has contributed towards transforming Central Banks financial reporting framework to international accounting standards. rn
