Mar 18, 2011 (LBO) – Sri Lanka’s Colombo Dockyard said it has delivered the fourth in a series of oil industry offshore support vessels for Greatship (India), a subsidiary of The Great Eastern Shipping Company of India. Christened ‘Greatship Rashi’, she will join her sister vessel Greatship Rohini which was delivered in February 2011, said the yard, which books profit on vessel delivery.
Greatship Rashi is a 78-metre Platform/ROV Support Vessel which can carry two remotely operated vehicles for underwater work and is capable of supporting offshore exploration and production activities.
“Colombo Dockyard recently secured three more Platform/ROV Support Vessel orders from Greatship Global Offshore Services in Singapore with delivery times extending up to end September 2012,” the yard said in a statement. Greatship firms have so far placed orders for 11 vessels with Colombo Dockyard, the largest number to be awarded to a single yard by the firm, with seven delivered.
