Red Hat India’s Business Manager for Sri Lanka, Amal R Dias on Friday said that since the open-source based software firm established support structures here for its software solutions, the take up by both the private and state sector had improved.
“A number of key tenders called by the government now have Linux based solution as an option along with other preparatory software options.”
A component in Sri Lanka’s ambitious e-Sri Lanka initiative is redesigning government support services, with the aid of technology and the internet.
Industry watchers say, the size of the projects requires that a reliable software solution is used.
However, any solution used should also have sound support structures from the vendor and developers end and not be too expensive, industry watchers say
Meanwhile, Red Hat strengthened its presence in the region, acquiring its joi
