Russian Navy training ship arrives at port of Hambantota

Nov 20, 2019 (LBO) – Russian Navy training ship ‘Perekop’ arrived at the port of Hambantota on a goodwill visit yesterday and she was welcomed by the Sri Lanka Navy in accordance with naval traditions.

Shkoda and a group of officers from the Sri Lanka Navy were also present on this occasion.

During the three-day visit, the crew members of the ship will take part in friendly sporting events as well as cultural programmes organized by the Sri Lanka Navy.

Further, they are scheduled to visit some of the tourist attractions in the country as well.

The 138m long and 17m wide training ship has a displacement of 6,900 tons and she is commanded by Commander Roman PAKHOMOV.


The crew of the ship includes 399 naval personnel.

Meanwhile, the ‘Perekop’ is scheduled to leave the island for her next port of call tomorrow.
