June 29 (LBO) – The Sri Lankan distributor of the latest Toshiba notebook computer is relying on good after sales service and the strength of well-known distributors to maintain an edge over competition. Analysts say that the personal computer market has been improving and they predict that in time to come laptops are bound to replace desktop computers. John Keells Office Automation (JKOA), the sole distributor of Toshiba laptops in the country, has set a target of selling over 3000 units for the year.

œThe consumer market is definitely growing in the last couple of years. We have had great growth in the consumer sector, says Chandima Perera, CEO of John Keells Office Automation (Pvt) Limited.

JKOA has been the distributor of Toshiba for 15 years and has sold 20,000 units up to now. It says the strong foot hold in the market helps them to face competition better.

œWe have been in the market for quite some time and the competition has always been there but I think we have the better edge, says Perera.
