Sri Lanka Customs to implement Single Window System by end 2015

Sep 27, 2015 (LBO) – Sri Lanka Custom’s Single Window System is to be implemented by the end of this year, Finance Ministry said in a statement.

The system enables the economic operators and trading partners to submit all import, export and transit information required by regulatory agencies via a single electronic gateway. Single window operation will do away the system of overlapping that will otherwise require submitting and processing the same information on numerous occasions to different entities.

Sri Lanka Customs is also implementing an online payment system linking all the major banks in Sri Lanka, the Ministry said. Importers and exporters can use electronic funds transfer or online payments to pay Customs duties and levies associated with the clearance formalities of goods declared for import or export of cargo. The Automation of CUSDEC import documentation process at the Sri Lanka Customs, availability of Import/Export information in digital form will facilitate trading community to allow the trading partners to log on through the internet and make e-payments to SL Customs.
