May 26, 2015 (LBO) – Sri Lanka’s government plans to build 1500 houses for media personal in an identified land in Homagama, Sri Lanka, a minister said today.
The identified, 100 acre land belongs to the Sri Lanka broadcasting cooperation and being acquired by the Media ministry for the housing project.
However, Media Minister, Gayantha Karunathilake said that the investment figure for the project has not been decided yet and that they are looking for construction companies who will come up with reasonable pricing.
Sri Lanka’s government yesterday raised salaries of over 40,000 health sector workers with an extra allowance, adding to a general increment given to all workers, which will paid off from the ordinary citizens’ tax money.
The cost to the tax payer from the increment would be another additional 480 million rupees a year.
