Sri Lanka stocks close up 0.1-pct

Jan 24, 2011(LBO) – Sri Lankan stocks closed up 0.10 percent Monday with active retail and high-net-worth individual trading in the banking and poultry sectors, brokers said.

The All Share Price Index closed at 7,261.37, up 0.10 percent (7.36 points) while the Milanka Price Index of more liquid stocks closed at 7,298.57, up 0.08 percent (5.62 points) according to stock exchange provisional figures.

Turnover was 4.1 billion rupees.

Commercial Bank closed at 284.00, up 5.20 rupees and Hatton National Bank closed at 393.70, up 3.50 rupees.

Biaraha Farms closed at 457.90, up 26.30 rupees and Three Acer Farms closed at 133.60, up 24.60 rupees.

John Keells Holdings closed at 294.60, down 3.70 rupees and Aitken Spence closed at 186.70, down 1.20 rupees.

Dialog Axiata closed at 11.70, down 0.10 cents.

Laugfs Gas closed at 48.30, down 1.70 with 1.9 million shares changing hands.

Amana Takaful was heavily traded and closed at 4.00, up 0.60 cents with 45 million shares done.
