Sri Lanka to publish committee report on the bond market investigation: Minister

Mar 18, 2015 (LBO) – Sri Lanka’s 100 day administration will publish the investigative report on the controversial bond issue, deputy secretary general of the United National Party Akila Viraj Kariyawasam told LBO.

Attorney-at-law Gamini Pitipana, who headed the committee appointed by the Prime Minster to probe the matter said the report will be completed in another two or three weeks time.

However, when LBO contacted the media division of the Prime Ministers office they refused to give details on the terms of reference for the said committee and their resumes.

“We will not be able to release these details yet,” Mohamed Iqbal, media secretary, PM office said.

Meanwhile, the Central Bank on Wednesday officially announced that the governor will be on leave in Sri Lanka during the period of inquiry.

The monetary board of the Central Bank has designated deputy governor P. Samarasiri as the senior deputy governor.

“We don’t want to hide anything.

We will make it available to the public and present it to parliament too,”

According to the constitution of Sri Lanka, Parliament has full control over public finance.

“If someone wants; we are ready to setup a select committee on this matter.

” Kariyawasam said.
