Dec 05, 2019 (LBO) – Sri Lanka’s tourist arrivals were down 9.5 percent in November 2019 to 176,984 from 195,582 a year earlier, new data show.
Sri Lanka Tourism Development Authority (SLTDA) said yesterday arrivals up to November was 1.672 million, down from 2.08 million or 19.6 percent from a year earlier.
The island is targeting about 1.9 million tourists in 2019, after initially expecting about 2.5 million tourists for 2019.
Following the Easter attacks, tourist arrivals slumped by 70.8 percent to a record low of 37,802 in May.
The change in arrivals between 2018 and 2019 was 57 percent in June, 46.9 percent in July, 28.3 percent in August, 27.2 percent in September, 22.5 percent in October and 9.5 percent in November.
