Sri Lankan Airlines aircraft damaged in Frankfurt

Jan 10, 2007 (LBO) – A SriLankan Airlines aircraft has been damaged at Franfurt airport shortly before take off, but passengers had been housed in hotels and are being flown to Colombo on other carriers, a company spokesman said. In October 2007, another aircraft scraped the wing of a SriLankan Airlines aircraft while it was taxiing in Heathrow.

The Airbus A340 had 284 passengers but no one was injured.

The accident had happened when a towing vehicle had started to pull the aircraft while it was still attached to an aerobridge, German media reports said.

It had resulted in a gash about a foot wide.

An investigation is under way, the airline said.
