Sri Lanka’s Central Bank says leaked report on Perpetual not final

Oct 10, 2016 (LBO) – Sri Lanka’s Central Bank on Monday said a complaint has been made to law enforcement authorities to inquire into the unauthorized release of a draft report on Perpetual Treasuries.

There have been media coverage regarding a report related to the examination of Perpetual Treasuries conducted by the Central Bank as the regulator of Primary Dealers operating in the Government securities market. Releasing a statement, the Central Bank said internal processes within the Supervision Department have not been completed and the final report has not as yet been submitted to the Monetary Board for its consideration. “The release of this report into the public domain has not been authorized,” the statement said. “Arising from this unauthorized disclosure, the Central Bank of Sri Lanka is strengthening its internal control mechanisms.
