Sri Lanka’s Malinga to bowl apparel brand

July 19, 2007 (LBO) – One of Sri Lanka's top clothing exporters, Brandix Lanka, has hired fashionable fast bowler Lasith Malinga as the group's 'brand ambassador'. Malinga, whose tinted curls and explosive round arm action made him a star attraction at the 2007 Cricket World Cup, will promote its corporate social responsibility and human resources development initiatives, a company statement said.

Lasith was referred to us because he wants to have a career after cricket, and has a lot of empathy for our environmental initiatives, Brandix Lanka Director AJ Johnpillai said.

When he is not playing for his country, Malinga will undergo training at the Brandix College of Clothing Technology (BCCT) at Ratmalana and at other Brandix companies, the statement said.

He will also tour the group’s manufacturing locations to educate workers on initiatives to preserve the environment, save energy and promote the conservation of water resources.
