Microsoft could couple a home edition license of its new Office 2003 software package free with every corporate license it sells in Sri Lanka.
The incentive is meant to popularise the use of original software in the local personal computer (PC) population, as Microsoft plans to set up shop here in Sri Lanka. rn

rnThe software giant in late 2003, announced its plans to set up a local office and a innovations centre to foster the talent pool and the growth potential in the islands market. rn

rnOfficials in Colombo on Tuesday to launch Microsofts Office 2003 and Server 2003 said its local Lankan office would be launched in around mid February. rn

rnMeanwhile, work and modalities for the innovation centre are being worked out with the counties eSri Lanka initiative implementing body, the ICT Agency. rn

rnThe state sector, with its ambitious eSri Lanka initiative is expected to be the largest client for Microsoft software in Sri Lanka. rn
